Chairperson

Nomsa Mashaba

Nomsa Mashaba serves as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors. A former lawyer and magistrate, she previously held the position of Head of the Department of Public Works for Mpumalanga Province. Currently, she is a businesswoman with valuable skills to contribute. Nomsa is a dedicated team member who generously donates her time and energy to assist individuals in need within her communities.

Thulisile Nkambule

Thulisile Nkabule is a pastor of local church (along with her husband) and also very involved in working with the youth in her community. She has development experience and is a trained counselor. Thuli is the community representative in our team of board members.

Phutumile Dumisa

Phutumile Dimisa has a foundation in teacher training and previously served as the CEO of a significant teacher training initiative in Mpumalanga. Currently, she works as an educational consultant for various organizations. With extensive practical management experience, Phutumile is recognized for her exceptional skills in fundraising and public speaking. She is proficient in eight languages and holds positions on several boards at both provincial and national levels. Her vision focuses on fostering collaboration among children and youth from diverse races and cultures to create a better world.

Treasurer

Judy Rothwell

Judy Rothwell is a Canadian professional accountant (CGA) and previously a partner with KPMG International. She is the treasurer of Mamkhulu.org. Currently she splits her time between providing financial and tax advice to individuals and businesses and working with non-profit organizations giving back to the communities locally and internationally. She has been a director of number of Canadian registered charities during the ten years. Since 2005, she has led various Canadian short term mission teams to South Africa to work on various projects helping orphans and vulnerable children in the province of Mpumalanga

Tiny Motlana

Tiny Motlana is a businesswoman who joined the Mamkhulu.org board in 2015. She has a wealth of experience that includes event and project management, hotel administration, and real estate. Her energy and commitment significantly bolster the organization, and her heartfelt desire to assist orphans and vulnerable children makes her an essential contributor to all our activities.

Cindy Nsibande 

Cindy Nsibande is an experienced South African accountant specializing in management and financial accounting within NGOs and community development initiatives. She is passionate about working with orphans and vulnerable children to enhance communities and provide support for families.

Mirriam Segodi 

Mirriam Segodi is a dedicated teacher who has devoted her entire career to serving the community in which she lives and works. Currently, she holds the position of Head of Department at Shishila Primary School in Msogwaba. Additionally, Mrs. Segodi founded a ministry known as Ebhuleni  Royal Charity, which supports Mamkhulu.org with the Litsemba Centre. Her deep love and compassion for orphans and vulnerable children have inspired a lifelong commitment to improving their lives within these communities.

CEO

Heather Stephens

Heather Stephens serves as the CEO and secretary of Mamkhulu.org, bringing her background as a trained teacher and development worker to the organization. Although she was born in Canada, she has been living and working in Southern Africa since 1982. Her extensive experience in training teachers, youth, and orphans equips her with the expertise needed to develop programs and manage the projects that Mamkhulu.org undertakes.

Mamkhulu.org is a registered Non-Profit Company (NPC) (2010/14903/08) and a recognized Non-Profit Organization (NPO) in South Africa that is dedicated to assisting orphans, vulnerable children, and youth in Southern Africa. The organization owns and manages the Ekukhanyeni Christian Retreat Centre, located in the Mpumalanga Province, which provides various programs for both small and large groups, as well as individuals, school groups, and church congregations.
